Despite masquerading as a “free” democratic republic, America is the most authoritarian and thoroughly bureaucratized countries in the world.

The country is dominated by massive bureaucracies that decide every facet of life, its cities have been wrecked and turned into palaces of technocratic management. Wide stroads created from traffic simulations, buildings coming out of the sky to increase returns by .00001%…

Glancing around an American city one might feel a great unreality. Millions of acres of natural grassland torn apart by urban sprawl and lawnmowers, expensive roads near extreme poverty. American urbanism is thoroughly influenced by large federal bureaucracies - whether Fannie May or J.P Morgan.

How does America reconcile this contradiction then? A country that prides itself on “self reliance” and “individualism” yet thoroughly divorced from either. Perhaps this question can give us a good understanding of the American psyche…
